The Trongone Band is based out of Richmond, Virginia, the regular members of which are all immediately related. The father, John Trongone, is the bass player, with his two sons, Johnny Trongone on drums, and Andrew Trongone on guitar. They are joined by Ashland-based saxophone player Matt Zavitz, who is rapidly becoming a regular member himself. It is primarily a jam, funk, rock, and blues band with a passion for Grateful Dead and tall orders of soulshine. They have played such prominent venues and events as the Roanoke Blues Festival, The National, Shamrock the Block, the Virginia State Fair, Carytown Watermelon Festival and Pocahontas State Park. They have shared the stage with the likes of Foreigner, Zoso and Johnny Winter. They also play regularly at colleges such as Randolph-Macon, Virginia Tech, Hampton Sydney, and University of Richmond. They are ecstatic to be playing at Camp Barefoot this year, and look forward to sharing this top-drawer experience with everyone!
