The Funk Ark
Some might say that Keyboardist Will Rast has an almost preternatural ability when it comes to finding the talent to match a vision. In 2007 he conceived of The Funk Ark while listening to James Brown..alot. What emerged from hist study in classic grooves is a 9-piece pure funk ensemble that combines as eclectic mix of the area’s most unique talent from a range of musical sensibilities. A blend of vintage style and modern daring, the Funk Ark is at the forefront of the DC funk revolution.
The Funk Ark performs original Afro-beat inspired compositions written by Will Rast and lends their own unique flavor to funk classics. With their infectious layers of percussion, rhythm, and brass, the Funk Ark has been known to cause spontaneous dance parties and to bring even the most reluctant to their feet.
Essentially, The Funk Ark is a collaboration of everything that makes the DC scene and ever-evolving force in the funk world.
